If you have looked at a lot of Internet sites, you've probably stumbled upon some error message once in a while. An error could occur in case the server can't process a request (Error 400), if you have to log in in order to see some content and you have not done so (Error 401), if you aren't permitted to access some webpage (Error 403) or when a link leads to a file which is not on the website hosting server (Error 404). Receiving this kind of messages may sometimes be frustrating as the pages have absolutely nothing in common with the actual website. That’s why some web hosting service providers permit you to set your own error pages which will match the layout of your own website and which could have any content which you'd like - information why the error has occurred, a suggestion how to handle it or even some amusing remark. Such a feature will help you keep the visitor on the site regardless of the error and the reason for it.

Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting

You will be able to set up personalized error pages for any of your sites without difficulty if you use any of our cloud hosting. This can easily be done from the Hosted Domains part of the Hepsia CP, offered with all accounts and when you go there, you can set your custom pages independently for any domain or subdomain. You must upload the files to your account before you start and enter the links to them during the process. This function could be de-activated at any time and the options you'll be able to pick from are a conventional page from our system or a default Apache web server page. Custom made error pages can be set with an .htaccess file as well. The file should be placed in the domain or subdomain folder and it should contain some system code and links to the pages. If you're not tech-savvy, you may copy the whole content you'll need for the file from our Help section.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

All of the semi-dedicated servers which we offer support custom made error pages and it shall not take more than a few clicks from your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to use this function. The option is available in the Hosted Domains section of your CP in which you will need to enter the links to the custom-made files via simple drop-down menus and a time and effort saving interface. Of course, you need to upload them in your account before that. In case you don't need to employ this feature at some point, you will be able to disable it just as easily and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be viewable when your visitors encounter an error. If you prefer, you may also use an .htaccess file to enable the custom made error pages. The file should include a specific line of code plus a link for every error type and you can easily discover an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
